Christie & Co successfully sold “Forsters Posthotel” to somnOO

Donaustauf. The hotel real estate expert Christie & Co advised the owners in the brokerage of the “Forsters Posthotel” in Donaustauf near Regensburg. The 4-star hotel is taken over and operated by the Swiss hotel owner-operator somnOO.

Previously run by the owner family Forster, “Forsters Posthotel” is located in the vicinity of Regensburg, at the foot of the Walhalla. Since its opening in 1994 and thanks to continuous extensions and renovations, the hotel has been able to establish itself as an essential part and quality leader of the Bavarian and Upper Palatinate hotel industry. The 4-star hotel has 71 rooms and suites, which are comfortable, and individually furnished with attention to detail. In addition, the hotel offers two restaurants, a wellness spa area and function rooms for business and private celebrations.

The new owner and operator of the hotel property, somnOO, already owns and operates over 50 hotels in Germany and France. “In addition to our hotels in North Rhine-Westphalia, we are opening another region for us in Germany with the Posthotel. Once again, we look forward to working with the proven team of local employees and business partners to continue the great success story of the sellers for our customers,” commented Managing Director Nils Backhaus on the purchase.

In a structured transaction process, Christie & Co identified the buyer and operator for the hotel on behalf of the owners. “Even before the pandemic, the tourism region of Regensburg had been growing continuously and was able to excel with more overnight stays every year. Due to this demand situation, we expect a rapid recovery and stabilisation, which is already strongly evident this year. The interest of Europe-wide hotel investors in the property is further proof of the attractiveness of the region. We wish the new owner and operator somnOO much joy and success with “Forsters Posthotel”, explains Robin Barth, Senior Consultant Investment & Letting at Christie & Co, who accompanied the sale.
